Police Investigating Carnival Shooting in Carriacou Featured

Law enforcement officers on the sister isles are investigating a shooting which occurred over the carnival weekend.

Head of the Northern Division, Inspector Richard Langdon, said that the incident occurred when an officer was forced to shoot a man in the elbow in order to disarm him. He was at the time threatening another individual with a deadly weapon.  The incident occurred on the Hillsborough jetty during the J’ouvert celebrations.

Inspector Langdon added that the man was treated and later discharged from the Princess Royal Hospital.  Despite the officers’ also having to respond to some minor altercations, Inspector Langdon concluded that it was relatively peaceful season despite the shooting incident.

Against this he was in high praise to the revellers and general public for their support during the just concluded season.
