June Shows Teachers’ Versatility

Magnifying  the theme --- Rethinking Education, Reshaping Economies for a Brighter Future--  members of the teaching fraternity across the sister isles have been demonstrating their versatility, in many areas away from the classroom as they join their counterparts on the mainland in celebration of Teachers Month.

Under the stewardship of President, Rholda Quamina, the teachers commenced the month’s activities with a church service on Monday June 1st.  Two days later, they held a moonlight walk and ring games in the area known as “Behind Sands”. June 10th will be the teachers exchange program followed by presentations at both homes for the elderly and Princess Royal Hospital on June 11th. Sports and fun day is carded for June 12th while a teachers spelling B competition is carded for the 18th. The teachers have scheduled a dance for June 20th, followed later in the month with the presentation of a stress management workshop and closing of the month of activities with a day cruise.

The female Carriacou and Petite Martinique branch president, Rholda Quamina, said that she is impressed with the level of involvement with which the activities began.  Quamina who is principal of Bishop’s College added that this is a clear indication that the coming events would even grow in support as they look to cap a successful Teacher’s Month.

Underscoring the importance of the month to the continuous bonding of members of this noble profession, Ms. Quamina says that teachers have been coming forward with ideas and their support towards ensuring that the exercise achieves its objectives.
