A large eyesore steel structure, which has been defacing the pristine beauty of the popular Tyrell Bay beach, has finally been removed.
On Saturday, the Carriacou Development Corporation (Tyrell Bay Marina), volunteered to use one of its heavy duty machines to remove a large tank, which was lying idle by on the picturesque white sand. The operation brought traffic to a halt for a period of time as the large object was demolished and finally taken away.
The process attracted an assortment of appreciative comments from residents, tourists and passersby, who termed the exercise as one which was long overdue.
“This was looking so unsightly especially for a beach like Tyrell Bay, which is the home of the island’s tourism belt” said a business operator in the community.
The item was lying some 500 meters south of the community’s main jetty.
