Cancer Society Assist Financially

The Carriacou Cancer Society continues to make good on one of the reasons for their existence, by giving financial assistance to a patient who is about to return to the USA to receive follow-up treatment.

Last week Thursday members of the committee led by President, Wallace McCleod, presented a cheque for $703.38 to Ann Edmund ofL’esterre.

From the inception of the organization, which was hatched through the annual Globethon walk, the committee has been lending support in various forms to persons who have been affected by cancer-related complications. 

Speaking at the handing over which took place at Cuthbert Snagg’s Bar, member of the committee, Javan Williams, said that while it’s never pleasant to hear of anyone having to go through the challenges of such a disease, he is happy to know that they are in a position to render moral and financial support to Mrs Edmund.

“We want to wish you all the best as you fly off to continue your medical treatment” said Williams, “and rest assured that we are here to help you as much as possible”.

A grateful Mrs Edmund wasted no time in expressing her gratitude to the organization.

“I want to thank all for their support”, exclaimed Mrs Edmund.

President of the organization, Wallace McCleod, said since the birth of the organization they have already disbursed about $5,000.00.

The president pointed out that the monies were raised from various fund raising events, supported by persons making contributions to the Cancer Society fund at the Grenada Cooperative Bank.
