The sister isles of Carriacou and Petite Martinique are rapidly being transformed, as their first ever state-of-the-art, multi-million dollar shopping Plaza is currently under construction.

The project, which is located adjacent to the Alexis franchise in Tyrell Bay, would be equipped with a massive shopping centre, other diverse services and a spacious car park.  The project that is currently progressing at a rapid rate isfurther testimony of the business acumen of the Alexis family of Tyrell Bay.

The mall is already attracting attention on what it will bring to the sister isle as, the main proprietor; Tardy Alexis seeks to ensure that the people of Carriacou and Petite Martinique and those visiting the island receive the best in terms of quality and timely service. He says that the first phase of the project, which occupies the first floor carries a budget in the region of EC$3.5 million. The project is 113x220 feet in size.

The facility he explained, began in February of this year and was originally carded to be completed in July.  However, he pointed out that due to some delays they have now pushed the completion period to the end of August or early September.

“This will first see the supermarket in operation and the other units by end of the year”, said Mr Alexis.

“I think it’s time for the people of Carriacou to have something they can be proud of, where they can get good food, good and reasonable prices. They should be able to shop at a location, which is convenient and comfortable while enjoying professional customer service”, said the young businessman.

Alexis said that it was always his dream to seek ways to deliver the best with an international standard to the people of Carriacou and Petite Martinique.  He pointed out that the idea was first conceptualised in 2014 and now he is pleased to see that it would soon begin serving the general public.

The businessman says that they are hoping to have about twelve to fifteen permanent jobs in the supermarket, plus more in the other outlets that would be rented out.

“This operation will be good for employment on the island.

“We have eleven units to be rented out by November ”, said Mr Alexis.

He said that there are future plans to continue construction of the upper floor of the multi-million dollar facility.
