Three Panorama victories in a row for the New Dimensions Steel Orchestra but this time they were forced to share the spotlight with the St. Pauls side, Commancheros which tied with them for the 2014 Panorama title.
Veteran arranger James Clarkson and Angel Harps had to settle for third though in the mind of most they delivered a masterful performance.
Eight steel bands faced the judges at the Tanteen Netball Court on Pantastic Saturday to contest the nation’s biggest title in pan, a panorama event that attracted a larger crowd than in many a recent year.
Each of the contesting pan sides delivered to the delight of the diehard pan fans and newly converted enthusiasts alike. The crowd was really appreciative of the treat they got.
Even the smaller bands which usually exist on the fringes; in the shadows of the larger more dominant ones are now making a putsch to establish their identity and carve a place in the steel band landscape.
Their performances were highly animated and dripped with self assurance and confidence; a sure sign that they don’t consider themselves underdogs.
After what must have been a challenging task for the judges, the following were the eventual results:
1 Coyaba new Dimensions
1 LIME Commancheros
3 Republic Bank Angel Harps
4 Waggy T. Pan Ossia
5 Rainbow City All Stars
6 Pan Lovers
7 Grand Roy Pan Angels
7 Digicel Florida All Stars
