Fifteen Gunning for Boyzie’s Crown

Fifteen soca artists were selected from a cast of thirty-one at last Friday soca monarch semifinals, held at the Victoria Park in Grenville and they all seemed prepared to strongly challenge reigning soca monarch Jalon Olive, Boyzie who has been holding that title for the past year.

The fifteen will individually come up against Boyzie at the Grenada National Stadium tonight (Friday August 5th) and are expected to impress the judges with the intention to score the maximum points in the various criteria under which they would be judged.

At the semis, Dash, a first timer to the power soca big stage tied with Little Natty and Thunder scoring 230 points. In third place scoring a total of 228 was The Veteran, Inspector who has tasted victory more than once and made it to the big stage on numerous occasions.

Squeeze Head, no stranger to the big stage placed 4th scoring 226 points, Terra D Governor; a first timer to the big stage was in 5th place scoring 225 points. Muddy, no stranger to the big stage himself scored 224 points for 6th place.

The other contenders were Lil Vaughn, Short Pree and Mush Man, Luni Spark and Electrify, Scholar, Sheldon Douglas and Mr. Razor.
