Fifteen Gunning for Boyzie’s Crown

Fifteen soca artists were selected from a cast of thirty-one at last Friday soca monarch semifinals, held at the Victoria Park in Grenville and they all seemed prepared to strongly challenge reigning soca monarch Jalon Olive, Boyzie who has been holding that title for the past year.

The fifteen will individually come up against Boyzie at the Grenada National Stadium tonight (Friday August 5th) and are expected to impress the judges with the intention to score the maximum points in the various criteria under which they would be judged.

Mr. Walkie Tops Soca Preliminaries

The preliminary round of the competition to determine who would be crowned Grenada’s 2017 Soca Monarch has been completed, and sitting at the top of the table by way of points heading into the semi-final round is a newcomer to the soca arena. 

 According to the judges, after four nights of judging, which ended Sunday at Carnival City in St George’s featuring some one hundred and twenty artistes, newcomer Sherwin Paul alias Mr Walkie topped the list.
