St. David Woman Charged with 47 Counts of Stealing

Carmelia Andrews of Malmount, St. David is on $50,000 bail after having been slapped with 47 charges related to stealing by reason of employment. Carmelia was employed as secretary at the office of  Dr. Albert Oswald Fletcher, a dental surgeon operating on Grenville Street.

Andrews is charged with forging and tampering with checks thereby robbing her employer of approximately $54,000.00.

A reliable source speaking to Grenada Informer says the accused woman started working at his office on May 2nd 2013. He says she was initially on three (3) months probation and then was taken on full time as the secretary of his business place.

Carmelia Andrews was found thieving by reason of employment with business cheques that sums up to the total amount of approximately $54, 000, 00.

When informer contacted Dr. Fletcher he admitted that the information is true and said that Ms. Andrews was dismissed January 5th 2015 and the matter is presently in court; however, Dr. Fletcher said all he wants is for her to repay the monies which she stole. He feels pity about the decision for her to go to jail, because it would be very sad for her child to know that his/her mother is in jail.

Dr. Fletcher says he attended the No.2 magistrates’ court on Monday 27th concerning his matter with Carmelia Andrews but the matter has been adjourned to July 16th 2015 because, he was told, Ms. Andrews has had some new charges laid against her.

While on bail Andrews has to report to the St. David’s police station every morning.
