Media practitioners called upon to recognize the small beginning of a great career

As members of the media practitioners in Grenada embarked on the annual week of activities, in commemoration of Media week 2015 under the theme “Let Journalism Thrive! Working together with other mediums for greater development of the profession”, practitioners are called upon to be mindful of the purpose for which they are called, and recognize the small beginning of a great career.

Addressing his congregation during last Sunday’s service at the River Sallee Pentecostal Church which members of the media profession attended, Pastor Dave King, Bishop of the Pentecostal Assembly of the West Indies said God has a way of sifting and selecting his people for specific purpose and therefore as people who are called to do a specific function media professionals should not give up hope, since according to him God is still in control. One aspect of that service was to invoke God’s blessing at the commencement of media week 2015.

The Pastor said too often persons who are placed in certain positions question why they are going through certain situations. It is time he said to recognize that God has a plan and therefore there is greatness ahead and all it takes at times is some patience to see the working of the Almighty.

In strengthening his call for people to recognize the small beginning of a great career, the Pastor cited many biblical references where people of humble beginnings later emerged to be great men, among them he noted was Jesus himself who started of his mission on earth as a carpenter. Too often he said people tend to ignore the simple things in life, but to God, these simple things are strategically placed as preparation for greatness, however, one must first understand their callings and allow themselves to the used by God.

Media week 2015 will climax this Sunday with a Fun day at Progress Park in St Andrew’s along with the Paradise Football Club.

The week of activities included food hamper distribution and radio and television programmes.
