Former Magistrate and practicing attorney Henry Paryag came inches from bracing the unfriendly conditions at Her Majesty’s Prison on Tuesday as Magistrate Jerry Seales was unwavering in his determination to walk the walk “no man is above the law.”

He is up against four traffic offences namely, driving without due care and attention, using an uninsured motor vehicle and two counts of driving without a driver’s license. This was compounded by the withdrawal of a bond by one of his bailers and failure to appear before the court when ordered to do so. Magistrate Jerry Seales was not prepared to tolerate any more excuses from the former magistrate.

However as Paryag’s good fortune would have it, information reaching the Grenada Informer indicated, his colleague lawyer Peter David saved the day.

Sources told the Informer that the former Foreign Affairs Minister was forced to pull all cards left in the law books to convince Magistrate Seales that sending Paryag to the Richmond Hill Prison to await his trial was not the right thing to do.

After a lengthy legal battle, sources told the Informer, Magistrate Seales conceded but decided to have Paryag placed on cash bail in the sum of $ 4,000.00.

Informer was able to confirm before press time on Tuesday, that the money was paid, and Paryag who was driven away to the Central Police Station in prisoners transport earlier on Tuesday had regained his freedom and is expected back in court sometime in October to answer to the charges.
