Former Public Relations Officer of the New National Party and longstanding NNP front man, Terrence, “Terry” Forrester has promised to unmask Prime Minister Dr Keith Mitchell.
Forrester who over the last two decades or so had become one of the prominent faces and voices of the NNP is apparently bitter at having been shouldered aside after expressing an interest in contesting the South St. George Constituency for the party in the upcoming elections.
Forrester gave the assurance that he would certainly be responding to “misinformation” propagated by the prime minister with regard to his (Forrester’s) fall out with the party.
During Wednesday’s post-cabinet media briefing, Dr Mitchell had indicated that Forrester had no right publicly challenging the policies of the NNP and further challenging a candidate that the party had selected to represent a constituency.
The previous week news had circulated that Forrester had been removed from the Board of Directors of the National Water and Sewerage Authority, which he chaired. He had also been removed as chairman of the authority that manages the Ministerial Complex and the Financial Complex.
At the post cabinet briefing, the prime minister had said that the things Forrester has been doing in recent times indicate that he is no longer interested in being a member of the party.
He said if his former colleague is interested in throwing in his bid to the populace as an independent then he wishes him all the best and holds no animosity toward him.
Referring to Dr Mitchell’s vow to unmask members of the parliamentary opposition in the past, Forrester said the nation would hear about unmasking on Monday morning in his press conference.
The former NNP PRO said when he speaks he needs no legal advice because the truth alone will set everyone free. He said the facts shall be shared with the people of Grenada; the truth shall be shared; the light of democracy and the darkness of democracy shall be unmasked. The ungratefulness shall be unmasked and other information shall be unmasked”.
Forrester said Dr Mitchell has spoken about unmasking men in parliament “but the “mask man” is sitting in the office of Prime Minister”.
The prime minister had said one of the things Forrester is bitter about is because the PM had refused to grant him and his wife a diplomatic passport when his wife was ill with stage-four cancer and needed to travel hassle free to seek treatment. However, Forrester said he had previously held such a passport under Dr Mitchell’s leadership and it was only revoked when the National Democratic Congress was in office, 2008-2013.
