Medal of honor presented to veteran Mas player

Veteran mas player Evlyn Mark honored by the Queen in 2016 for his contribution to culture and in particular Ole Mas in Grenada has finally received his award.

The Medal of Honor was presented toMr. Mark during a special visit to his home by Grenada’s Governor General Her Excellency Dame Cecile La Grenada last Wednesday.

Mark, whose years of service to Ole Mas spanned over five decades, is well known for allowing the wording on his costumes to direct his messages, which more often than not are directed to the policymakers or business owners who traverse his path in the buildup-up to carnival.

Presently Mark’s medical condition does not allow him to participate in carnival however, speaking to him via telephone, on Wednesday, it was obvious that mentally he is still a mas player and his heart is with every Grenadian who participate.
