La Poterie Awarded Most Beautiful

A billboard has been eracted in La Poterie to proclaim the village the winner of the 2016 National Independence Beautification Competition. The St Andrew community also received a $1,000 cash reward.  

The National Celebrations Committee unveiled the billboard in the community on Tuesday evening with a ceremony honouring the people of La Poterie for their creativity and exemplary beautification of the area.

SCHOLAR REASSIGNED

EDUCATOR AND CALYSPSONIAN Finley Jeffrey has been given an assignment to keep the Ministry of Education in line regarding the implementation of policies that affect teachers. 

The Grenada Union of Teachers said the ministry, over the years, has been slow in implementing important policies and programmes for their membership and Scholar’s special assignment is to monitor the work of the ministry in that regard.

UWI degrees now accepted in China

The University of the West Indies (UWI) is pleased to announce the official recognition of its degrees in China. 

In correspondence to The UWI Vice-Chancellor, Sir Hilary Beckles, dated December 15, 2016, His Excellency Ambassador Niu Qingbao, of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Jamaica, affirmed The UWI’s status as an approved university by the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China.
