High Speed chase ends in Gunfire, Over 100lbs of Marijuana Confiscated

Four men from various villages in St Patrick’s, aged 20 to 24, snatched by members of the Drug Squad during a high-speed chase and exchange of gunfire in the River Sallee area in St Patrick’s last Wednesday night have been placed on bail. 

 The four, Shawn LaBorde from the village of Mt Craven, Jeremy Maitland from La Mode, Erickson Phillip, La Fortune and Ali Charles from the village of Mt Rose were all granted bail on Tuesday by Magistrate Karen Noel as they made their first court appearance at the Sauteurs Magistrate Court.

Lawyer withdraws service to accused business man

A St George’s businessman slapped with multiple charges of fraud might be forced to mount his own defence as the lawyer listed as having carriage of the matter bows out.

Defence lawyer Francis Williams told Chief Magistrate Tamara Gill in open court last Tuesday that he would no longer be representing the accused man Elvin Phillip, and chose to excuse himself from further involvement in the proceedings.
