Grenada’s 2015 CARIFTA team has departed Grenada to represent their country in this year’s Regional matches.

The Ministry of Youth, Sports, and Religious Affairs, the Grenada Athletics Association (GAA) and the Grenada Amateur Swimming Association (GASA) had held a joint press conference in relation to Grenada’s participation in the Championship.

CARIFTA Athletics Trials were held on March 14 and 15, organized by the GAA and saw over two hundred (250) athletes from across Grenada and the sister isles of Carriacou and Petite Martinique compete to meet the qualifying standards. GASA had hosted its CARIFTA Swimming Trials in February.

The 30th CARIFTA Swimming Championships are being held April 3rd – 7th in Barbados whereas 44th CARIFTA Athletics Championship is from 4th– 6th April in St. Kitts.

The CARIFTA athletics team left for St. Kitts Tuesday and Wednesday.

Over 20 athletes are participating in the CARIFTA games this year including Corey Ollivierre, Kerry Ollivierre, Oreoluwa Cherebin, Marco Bagnasco, Kellie-Ann Alexander, Shikkira Charles, Amanda Crawford, Nichioner George, Reana Joseph, Candesha Scott, Meleni Rodney, Josh Boateng, Markim Felix, Nathan Hood, Tallan James, Johann Jeremiah, Ryan John, Mickel Joseph, Royan Phillip Marcelle, Darren Modoo, Anderson Peters, Keston Quashie, Adrian Thomas, Telvin Thomas and Delron Felix.

Grenada and the Grenada Informer wishes all the athletes taking part in the Carifta Games all the best and would like them to know we are 100% behind them. They have our full support.
