4 Grenadian U15 cricketers off to Windward Islands duties

Four Grenadian cricketers selected earlier this year as members of the Windward Islands Under-Fifteen team, left the state on Wednesday for Barbados to join the rest of their teammates in a one-week training camp, ahead of the West Indies Under-Fifteen tournament due to commence on July 24th.

The four, opening batsman Teddy Bishop, off-spinner Kervyn Gangadeen, and medium pacers Jamil Rocastle and Tiron Charles were selected at the conclusion of the Windward Islands Under-Fifteen Tournament held in Grenada in April of this year.

The 2017 West Indies Under 15 tournament would be held in Barbados and include all six test cricketing venues namely, Trinidad and Tobago, Guyana, Jamaica, Windward Island, Leeward Island and host Barbados.

The remainder of the Windward team includes Tyran Theodore, Ackeem Auguste, Ephron Charles, Keygan Arnald and Udell Perville from St Lucia, Ojay Matthews from St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and from Dominica, Jedd Joseph and Yawani Regis.

The team would be managed by Johnson Richardson from Grenada and coached by Alton Crafton from St Lucia.

In related news, two players selected to represent the Windward Islands under 19 team in the upcoming West Indies Under 19 Tournament due to take place in St Kitts from July 22nd left the island earlier today for St Kitts.

Both players Johann Jeremiah and Shermille Lewis were selected following their outstanding performances in the recently concluded Windward Island Under 19 Tournament held in Dominica.

Grenadian Rondell Baptiste would manage the Windward Island team.

Two players who represented the Windward Island Under 17 team, in the West Indies Under 17 tournament in Trinidad and Tobago returned to Grenada on Wednesday. The players are Cazarie Charles from the sister isles of Carriacou and Jemmy Buddy from St Andrews.
