The starting whistle of the first ever Young Generation Female Basketball Tournament, saw the LIME Classics, one of the six teams participating, jump into action.

The tournament, which ends tomorrow July 27th was held over three parishes and brought much needed exposure to women’s basketball.

On hand at the Opening Ceremony held on the Carenage Court in St. Georges earlier this week, LIME General Manager, Angus Steele gave some remarks as one of the corporate sponsors of the tournament. He HHe urged the young ladies to make the most of this opportunity and to play their best. Mr. Steele said that “LIME is no stranger to supporting women’s sport at home and regionally. “We have supported Netball in Grenada for more than 20 years and in recent years have also supported the Caribbean Netball Championship in Brooklyn, New York. “We are delighted to be a part of the emergence of Female Basketball as another avenue for young ladies to pursue a career in sports.”

There were several Government officials at the ceremony, including Senators Sheldon Scott and Richard De Allie.
