Nurse: “Don’t Make Gov’t Look Bad,” Claims Patient

A resident of Belair who recently departed to seek further medical attention in England following a hernia operation at the General Hospital said he was bemused at the unprofessionalism which surrounded his travels from the Princess Royal Hospital, Carriacou to Grenada—and that he was stunned at what it seemed was a politically inflamed attitude of the nurse who accompanied him to the mainland.

The National Budget and the Constitution

The national budget refers to the estimates of revenues and expenditure, which the government of the day has determined for the financial year. In this regard, several consultations are held with personnel in the various departments and ministries to come up with final figures. In relation to Grenada, the financial year means January to December. Whilst the ideal situation is that budgets be presented before the financial year begins so that both government and the private sector would be enabled to plan properly, this is not always possible. This year however, the ideal is being obtained.

Pragmatism: If It Ain’t Broke Why Fix It?

Pragmatism is the operative word these days. It means that when something is working don’t change it. Last week the Prime Minister announced a cabinet reshuffle which might not be considered major by ordinary standards. It was noticed that in the speech, he praised and glorified all those affected by the changes, yet they were moved. Many Grenadians are wondering why these ministers are changed when, by the Prime Minister’s own admission, they are performing so well. However, as the people say, there is much more than meets the eye.
