Cutting the Cost of Electricity in Grenada

During the recent budget presentation for the year 2015, Grenada’s Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, revealed that a new Electricity Supply Act would be enacted. This would be done, he said, for the purpose of replacing the present legislation in order to ensure that the cost of electricity to consumers would go down. It is no secret that the cost of electricity in Grenada and other Caribbean States is extra-ordinarily high. In such a situation economic growth is always hindered.

EDITORIAL: Just Another Budget

The 2015 Estimates of Revenue and Expenditure has been discussed in the House of Representatives (it cannot be called a debate for obvious reasons) but what now?

It is the turn of the upper house where there is expected to be some opposing views to the construct of the billion dollar budget. This opposition was of course not reasonably anticipated in the lower house since the same tune was expected to be sung by all.
