Messages Of Pessimism

It is interesting to look closely at graduating students on the day, especially during the Feature Address and Principal’s Report. They “listen” intently but somehow they seem not to be “hearing”, and maybe they are better served in that way.

Minors and Cybercrimes

The Minister of Youth and Sport must be credited with forthrightness in addressing certain issues. Just prior to the introduction of the Social Crimes Bill in Parliament, the Minister admitted that it was late but “better late than never”, and that the new Bill coming into law would deter some and even punish some. Those are sensible comments.

Caught in Crossfire

Of the 1740 students who wrote the Caribbean Primary Exit Assessment (CPEA) examination, about forty were deemed unfit for selection to a secondary school; at least those were the sentiments expressed by Education Minister. Consequently, that sparked off national debates and outcry particularly from those associated with the “rejected” students as well as the more rational thinkers, and to the students’ embarrassment.
