The body of fifty-four-year-old Bernard Simon aka Nooksy, of Mt. Granby, St. John’s was discovered naked and motionless close to the shoreline at Douglaston, St. John on Monday morning. He was said to have been missing since Saturday.
The Grenada Informer on Tuesday, spoke to two of the deceased man’s closest neighbours and one shared that “overall, he was an okay fella, he was a good boy, because anything you ask him to do, he will do it for you but the only thing is when he drink he rum, he like to get on but will be greatly missed by all in the community,” she said
She added that he went missing on Saturday and everyone was inquiring about his whereabouts.
The other close neighbour who identified himself as John, better known as ‘Bull’ recalled to this paper that sometimes when ‘Nooksy’ drinks he behaves in a disorderly manner but genuinely, he is a very good guy, who he described as a hard worker. “He will drink rum tonight, get really drunk and tomorrow morning he is seen up and about again and back to his work”.
According to John, Nooksy left his home for Gouyave on Saturday and did not return. He heard the sad news about a body being found and as soon as he saw the pictures, he immediately identified him. Lots of people were still in disbelief that it was him.
According to a police report, Simon’s body was identified by a relative on Tuesday and investigations are ongoing into the matter.
He felt behind one son.
