Several mas bands paraded the streets of Grenville on carnival Monday and Tuesday evening respectively bringing the curtains down on carnival 2022.
Thousands of carnival lovers lined the streets of Grenville to witness the final show on carnival Tuesday as an assortment of bands paraded the streets.
Rainbow City Mas Promoters, a band that has stood the test of time and achieved numerous titles, in the absence of the now deceased founder Peter Bain, was able to perform exceptionally this year as they paraded the streets for yet another year.
The band consisted of eleven sections this year including children’s and adult’s categories, a portrayal of Legends Never Die as a tribute to the cultural ambassador and founder of the band Peter Bain.
The eleven sections included a display of the Grenada Revolution, farmers, angels, gems, and strikers among others.
Another mas band that also paraded the streets of Grenville and has been participating year after year, was the Paraclete Mas Band. This year they carried six sections
The Telescope Wild Indian fancy mas band was also on the streets.
Several short knee bands also took to the streets and there were presentations by a steel orchestra out on the streets carnival Tuesday evening providing a taste of steel band music.
The entire festival in the parish for the first time after two years of no official carnival was considered by organizers a success with just a few reported fights, while the police provided effective security throughout the celebration. Only minor incidents were reported.
